The Learning and Development Hub (The Hub)

Building pathways to inclusive paid and volunteer employment opportunities

As part of the Level the Field project, Disability Sport & Recreation is developing an online Learning and Development Hub designed to create more inclusive pathways into employment and volunteering across the sport and active recreation sector.

The Hub will provide accessible resources, practical tools, online and face-to-face training and learning opportunities that empower both individuals with a disability and organisations to build a more inclusive workforce and volunteer community.

For people with a disability

The Hub will help people with disability living in Regional Victoria develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to explore, experience and succeed in paid and volunteer roles within sport and active recreation.

Through co-designed learning opportunities, participants will be able to:

  • Increase their understanding of available career and volunteer pathways.

  • Build practical skills and workplace readiness.

  • Connect with opportunities to contribute, lead and participate within their communities.

  • Strengthen confidence in applying for and undertaking roles.

For Sport and Active Recreation Organisations

The Hub will support sporting clubs, associations, and sport and active recreation providers to create environments where people with disability can thrive as paid employees and volunteers.

Organisations will gain access to resources and training that will help them:

  • Build understanding of disability inclusion and accessible practices.

  • Develop skills to attract, recruit and retain people with disability.

  • Foster inclusive workplace and volunteer cultures.

  • Remove barriers and create meaningful opportunities for participation, leadership and employment.

  • Strengthen organisational capability and workforce diversity through the inclusion of people with lived experience of disability.

  • Build a broader and more sustainable volunteer and workforce pipeline.

  • Enhance reputation and community impact by demonstrating a commitment to inclusion and accessibility.

  • Position the organisation as a leader in inclusive practice and community engagement.

Creating Lasting Change

By supporting both individuals and organisations, The Hub aims to strengthen the capacity of the sport and active recreation sector to become more inclusive, diverse and representative of the communities it serves.

Together, we can create a sector where people with disability are not only welcomed as participants, but valued as volunteers, employees, leaders and changemakers.
