Data quality dimensions

The Owl Insights utilises the below dimensions to inform the inclusion of data sources shared through the LGA Connect program. Only data that achieves a High or Moderate quality rating will be shared.

Accuracy - the extent to which data represents real-world observations and phenomenon from agreed-upon sources

Credibility - is it from a credible source (Government, Quasi-government, Peak body, Associations, Private providers in sport and recreation)

Integrity / transparency - has the method of data capture been shared, and has the raw data been shared / been made available

Validity - What is the sample size (is it a minimum of n=4 people qualitatively and minimum n=40 people quantitatively)

Completeness - is the data complete (for the information that is it presenting)

Consistency - is the data consistently captured over time (if tracking) and with other data that it is comparing / contrasting

Timeliness - has the data been captured in the last four years

Uniqueness - is the data primary or secondary (sourced from other sources), and is it providing a new perspective or simply replicating others

The key to assess the above:

HIGH

MODERATE

LOW

NOT PRESENT / UNKNOWN

All of the above information conforms to the definition of this quality parameter

Most of the information conforms

A proportion conforms

None of the information conforms and / or it can't be verified
