What's Out There Day

The What’s Out There Day provides therapists, patients, people with a disability living in the community and their family and friends the opportunity to view and try pieces of adaptive equipment that can help them to become more active.
It also introduces these people to local Disability Sport and Recreation members and community groups, leading to opportunities for peer support.
The format for the What’s Out There Day can be multi functional and can comprise many formats to suit the needs of the Healthcare service it being provided for.
A typical program visit to a Rehabilitation Centre can include
- Introducing the Peer Support Program to patient, meeting volunteer Peer Support Volunteers and visits from current active members with a disability.
- The opportunity for inpatients to loan sport and recreation equipment items from the mobile sports library.
- The opportunity to participate in a sport or recreation activity at the hospital, such as lawn bowls, wheelchair basketball, boccia or handcycling (mounted) depending on space available.
